Today I’d like to discuss the possibility of becoming a mover in order to make some side money.
How to do it:
Let’s face the truth. In most of today’s communities, people are becoming more and more lazy. In addition to this, apartment and housing prices are constantly moving with the economy. This creates a need because you will always have a constant flow of traffic in regards to people moving into and out of homes/apartments. With the right combination of lazy people and the high cost of higher normal movers there comes the niche of becoming a mover. Whether you own a sizable vehicle of which to transport goods or not, you can make money off of this idea.
If you don’t have a truck or even that large of a vehicle, you’ll have to market yourself as an extra set of hands. You show up, help them lift and move things in and out of the old/new place and then collect your payment. You can even just sign up for the move out or the move in and there will always be someone looking to hire you if you make your prices just right.
Full service move companies can charge anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand depending on the work that is needed. If you even charge $100, you’ll still far outpace the competition and it doesn’t require more than your own two hands and the ability to arrive at the house to help load or unload. It’s a major money maker and can be done in only a few hours depending on the job.
The possible push back on this is that it does require a lot of labor on your part and that it’s tough if you’re only one person where they can hire a moving company and get a few people all at once. To that I say that it’s great to get exercise. If you spend money on a gym every month, simply swap this idea in for that and you’ll not only make money moving things but you’ll also be able to cancel your gym membership and cash in on the savings. As for the single person complaint, think how many people are single and just need one other person to show up to help move their couch or entertainment center.
Now it’s your turn:
Have you ever used this money making idea? If not, why haven’t you?
